Liam Neeson is to star in `Flying Tigers`
Director Jon Woo has revealed he is keen to sign up `The A-Team` actor for the film, which tells the tale of American pilot Claire Lee Chennault, who is tasked with training the Chinese to fight the Japanese in World War II.
He said: "It`s got to be a star but it`s hard to find the right one, because at the time Chennault was almost 50 years old. Ideally, I`ve been thinking of Liam Neeson as the title actor.
"Chennault really did a great job for China. He really loved China. Older Chinese people really remember him, respect him and love him."
Woo also noted he was thinking of Liu Ye as the young Chinese pilot Chennault trains, according to Heat Vision Blog.
Neeson has a number of roles coming up including Damon in `The Next Three Days` and Aslan in `The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader`
`Flying Tigers` - which will be a bilingual film - is entering pre-production in China in September.
